Boarding & Grooming


What are our requirements for Boarding and/or Grooming?

Boarding and Grooming are services we provide as a convenience for our regular clients and is available for patients for whom Highlands Animal Clinic is the primary caregiver. While we make every effort to accommodate your pet, boarding and grooming are offered on a space available basis. Boarding and Grooming with us also has the added benefit of medical supervision.

The following is an overview of our guidelines to keep your pet healthy while they are in our care. We want to ensure that your pet’s stay with us is comfortable and we want you to have peace of mind while you are away.

  • Have a current physical exam with a doctor. Existing patients need to be seen at Highlands Animal Clinic within the last twelve months. New patients need an evaluation by our doctor prior to scheduling a boarding and/or grooming stay.
  • Be current on vaccinations – either they have been given at Highlands Animal Clinic, or the client has a valid certificate and be current from another veterinary facility.
    • For Dogs: Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella & Influenza
    • For Cats: Rabies & FVRCP/FeLV
  • Be free from intestinal parasites – either fecal testing has been done at our clinic within the past six months, or there is proof of a negative fecal done by another veterinarian within the same time frame. Fecals need to be submitted at least 24 hours before admission. In some situations, fecal testing for cats can be done during boarding and/or grooming.
    Exam & treatment charges apply if fecal results are positive.
  • Be free of external parasites – we will check all animals coming into the hospital for any evidence of fleas and/or mites. If external parasites are found, we will treat appropriately at the owner’s expense.
  • Be good citizens while boarding and/or grooming – we reserve the right to decline boarding and/or grooming privileges to any pet.
  • Patients requiring medication or special care during boarding and/or grooming will be charged additional fees. All patients are under the medical supervision of a doctor; however, we do not have staff on the premises 24 hours per day.
